For the last eight years, the Los Angeles Design Challenge has been seeking the most spectacular new film cars in Hollywood.
For the 2011 edition, the Mercedes-Benz Advanced Design Studios in Sindelfingen (Germany) and Carlsbad (USA) worked on three projects, three visionary “hero cars” – a Mercedes-Benz and a smart, each perfectly cast in an action thriller, and a Maybach luxury carriage starring in a modern-day fairytale.
The three films, ”Annie get the Grannies“ (with the smart 341 Parkour), “Cinderella and the Maybach Berline” and ”Silver Lightning” all feature exciting cars designed specifically for the occasion.
“Silver Lightning” clearly is a homage to the beauty of the first Silver Arrows, with their clean, elegant lines reflecting those of the Mercedes-Benz racing cars of the 1930s and 1950s, before aerodynamics began dictating the shape of Formula One cars...
Is this amazing, futuristic model a potential glimpse of the future? We hope so!
