WE CAN SCORE POINTS IN THE RAIN
Interlagos, Brazil: Saturday, November 26, 2011
Paul will start his first Brazilian Grand Prix from 11th on the grid after posting a fastest lap of 1min 13.584secs in Q2, and narrowly missing out on a place in the top 10.
Afterwards, Paul admitted to being mystified by the lack of top speed he'd been able to get from his car. But he's confident he can still finish in the points tomorrow, especially of the forecasted rain arrives.
"It was very close today, and it was always going to be a difficult session for us right from the off.
"We haven't quite had the top speed the top cars have, and we just can't get to the bottom of why that is. If you're losing a tenth-of-a-second on both straights, which is a bit frustrating.
"At the same time, we're sitting 11th and with rain forecast; so fingers crossed we can certainly capitalise on that. In the past the car's been good in the wet, so we're hopeful of that. I think we've put ourselves in a reasonable position.
"What was quite surprising was that we used a used set of softs at the start of Q2, and that's when we set our fastest time.
"We used another set of new softs in the final run in Q2 and it didn't improve our time. We clearly didn't get the best out of them.
"What will the weather do tomorrow? No one really knows; it's so unpredictable here. Rain's forecast, and the showers here have been increasing, but whatever it is, it is.
"Our strong package is our race pace, and our race-length run yesterday was very good, so we're actually in good shape for the race."
