ASK THE GP NARION : BRAZIL
21 NOVEMBER 2011
@Liam_1994 simply thinks “Brilliant”, while @stageleftphoto says “I love it, one of my favourite tracks”, and @scsutton1 reckons it’s “an all-time great that hasn’t changed since 1991”.
Awesome track, passionate fans and simply fantastic racing - yep it’s Brazilian Grand Prix time again.
As we head to the final race of the season we asked you to tell us just what makes the race at the Interlagos track in São Paulo so special. It seems many of you are glad that Brazil will again be hosting the season finale, as it has done on so many nerve-tingling occasions in the past.
And even though won’t be a title climax to match that of 2008 or 2009, you are all looking forward to another thrilling battle on one of the best circuits in F1.
As @tyres2u says “it’s one of the most flamboyant for fans and a fantastic track to finish the season on’ and @SartoriX agrees, saying: “one of my favourite tracks of the year, perfect place for a season finale”.
@Liam_1994 simply thinks “Brilliant”, while @stageleftphoto says “I love it, one of my favourite tracks”, and @scsutton1 reckons it’s “an all-time great that hasn’t changed since 1991”.
The track’s setting - in a bowl which gives spectators some of the best viewing of any F1 circuit - seems a real attraction.
@rsimha says “yea..Interlagos one of the best circuits’ and @foocode adds “sublime. It’s wonderful. Only less-than-stellar part is the high-speed kink in the pit-straight’.
While @TommyD31 reckons Interlagos is “absolutely insane. The elevation changes make it for me, and the tight layout makes it even better’.
@PaulGibsonphoto says “love Interlagos, but I have nightmares about that pit entry...”.
@m_ridhoanugrah reckons “Uphill-Downhill! Great circuit” and @derg_J says “The first corner. The sudden drop and following corner must be made perfect or you lose vital ground on the short straight”.
From reading your tweets it’s clear that even though F1 continues to expand with races in Korea, India and the Middle East, the sport just has to keep famous old circuits like Interlagos on the calendar. And not just for the nature of the circuit but also the atmosphere created by the F1-loving Brazilians who turn up and are ready to.......Samba!
@f1fanatic_co_uk points out its “One of the last proper tracks in F1. Not excessively long (like all Tilkedromes) and plenty of traffic equals good racing”..,
For @shimell19 “the fans and the track go hand in hand - it has a soul that only a few tracks have :)”, while @MarshallGP agrees, saying “The passion of the people for F1 there makes the atmosphere unique”, and @PatchRBR loves “the track and the passion of the Brazilian fans”.
For @resir014 its “One of the best tracks in 2011, period”, and @VivaF1 says:Interlagos? Awesome. The run to the first corner is absolutely perfect so please leave it DRS-Free”.
@A_Rifky agrees about the start, adding “Love this circuit, especially Turn 1 and 2”, while @Etienne_Dokkum says “despite being ‘outdated’ it’s one of the MUST-HAVES!”
But when you think of Brazil there is really only ONE driver who springs to mind - AyrtonSenna, the local hero who won three titles before his tragic death at Imola in 1994..
For @marlon18 it simply is “one word: Senna”, while @SilentBobF1 remembers “Senna winning on slicks in the rain”.
@mybloodispetrol remembers it as the scene of title glory for Britain’s Lewis Hamilton and Jenson Button in successive years, saying” I love it, it’s hosted thrilling races recently, who could forget Hamilton in 2008 (last corner) or Button in 2009 (14-5)’.
And f1paddockonline adds “One of my favourites. Still remember 09, punch on btwnTrulli and Sutil, fire in pit lane. And all on lap 1!’.
@heyk says “Brazil or the GP? Brazil: models for sure:-) GP: great racing over the year - JPM passing MSC ’01 and JB’s ’09 WDC”.
And while the trip to South America is a long one for the team, involving a 12-hour flight from the UK, for @renato_dcd “It’s special because I’ll be in the track watching the race as I do every year in Interlagos”.
@patricialiuzzi agrees, adding “I love it! Maybe because I live here LOL”, as does @edisonlsm who tweeted “I love the Brazilian GP because it’s an awesome track and because it’s my country”.
But, for @thehuxman “I have to get up at 2.30am to watch it” and for @heyk “not ready for the season to be over! So much so, I’m already planning a trip to my first GP. Maybe get an XBox and F1 2011 too”.
Not all of you are fans of Interlagos though. @EnoTheWonderdog reckons “The old one was better”, and for @sanzionovisk “The old 7Km+ layout was better, but it still a very challenging circuit’.
As anybody who has been to Brazil knows, the journey from the centre of town to the track can be hair-raising - and not just because of the traffic with @teamSCboard warning “slightly nervous drive in/out, good view once you’re in”.
That’s a point @mcmercsir highlights, saying “the party atmosphere and not miles and miles of run off. Oh and the crazy weather.”
So that’s a huge amount to look forward to in a race weekend. And it starts right here, right now. Enjoy!
