Final practice - Vettel leads Button at Interlagos
Sebastian Vettel took his turn to top a practice session here at Interlagos on Saturday morning, but the times remained tight as McLaren's Jenson Button was only 0.087s behind and a second covered the first nine cars.
Vettel lapped his Red Bull in 1m 12.460s, while a late improvement put a happier Button second with 1m 12.547s just ahead of Vettel's team mate Mark Webber on 1m 12.597s.
Lewis Hamilton had been fastest with 1m 12.622s, but couldn't improve on that and was fourth in the second McLaren. Then came Ferrari's Fernando Alonso on 1m 12.765s, a flying Adrian Sutil, who had once been fastest, on 1m 13.113s in the Force India, the Mercedes of Nico Rosberg and Michael Schumacher on 1m 13.286s and 1m 13.393s respectively, and Paul di Resta in the second Force India on 1m 13.419s.Behind them, Felipe Massa struggled on his way to 1m 13.583s in the second Ferrari to head Renault's Vitaly Petrov on 1m 13.838s, Williams' Rubens Barrichello on 1m 14.283s, Toro Rosso's Jaime Alguersuari on 1m 14.286s, Sauber's Kamui Kobayashi on 1m 14.311s, Williams' Pastor Maldonado on 1m 14.454s, Sauber's Sergio Perez on 1m 14.346s and Bruno Senna on 1m 14.551s in the Renault.
Jarno Trulli was back ahead of Lotus partner Heikki Kovalainen, 1m 15.843s to 1m 16.026s, then Jerome D'Ambrosio was again the lead Virgin driver with 1m 16.616s. Tonio Liuzzi and Daniel Ricciardo had an entertaining intra-team fight which went then Italian's way despite a lengthy time in the pits, 1m 17.143s to 1m 17.296s, and an unhappy Timo Glock brought up the rear with 1m 17.984s in the other Virgin. Sebastien Buemi failed to set a time after his Toro Rosso suffered a hydraulic leak.
Surprisingly, given that the track was still slippery in places, there were no incidents.
