F1 on the big screen in new Cars 2 movie

Formula One on the big screen in 2011... and we're not talking about the award winning 'Senna' movie (although I'm looking forward to that just as much).

Cars 2, the sequel to one of Pixars most successful animations based on Piston Cup almost-Champion Lightning McQueen, will be released in 2011.

The film, set for release in early June, will see NASCAR (McQueen) take on a Formula One car (Francesco Bernoulli) around the streets of some of the most famous locations in the world.

Sketches reveal London, Paris, Italy and what looks like Mount Fuji as possible race hosts.

The storyline reveals that Bernoulli, based on a Ferrari of course, is McQueen's fiercest rival and the most popular racecar in Europe.

"Francesco Bernoulli grew up in the shadow of the famous Monza race course in Italy where he and his friends would sneak onto the track and race the famous Pista di Alta Velocita bank turn," reads his bio.

"He was an instant winner on the amateur circuit and soon became an international Formula Racer champion. The ladies love Francesco's open wheels, youngsters look up to his winning spirit and fellow racers envy his speed.

"But Francesco's biggest fan is Francesco himself, as evidenced by his racing number. As the most famous race car in Europe, #1 Francesco is a favourite to win the World Grand Prix, which also makes him Lightning McQueen's chief rival."
