Deftones Concert Organizer Releases Statement
The organizer of the Deftones concert that was abruptly cancelled on February 15 released an official statement yesterday, promising to invite the band back to Bangkok soon.
Engine9, the organizer of the 'Singha Corporation Presents: Deftones Live In Bangkok 2011', said that the manager of the band told the organizer a few hours before the show was to begin, that the stage, sound, and lighting systems were found to be sub-standard.
According to Engine9, the band refused to perform when all maintenance work was finished at 8 P.M., after negotiations failed, Engine 9 was forced to cancel the concert.
Thousands of Thai and foreign fans, many intoxicated by that time, were furious.
Many threw chairs and tables, as well as beer bottles at the facilities at the Thunder Dome.
The organizer promised to invite the American band back to Bangkok as soon as possible.
News reports said one of the band's members Sergio Vega posted on Twitter that the band experienced a great number of problems on stage prior to the show, and one of the band's members was nearly electrocuted.
Engine9 is expected to make further announcements on legal matters related to the cancellations.
The company may also be asked to pay for the damages incurred by the fans.
