Monday, 26 de September de 2011
Singapore, Malaysia, September 25, 2011 – In a difficult race where Sergio Pérez had to struggle with his tires and contacts at the end he closed the race in the top ten and added one more point for the F1 World Championship in its fourteenth round in Singapore.
After 61 laps around the 5.073 kilometers layout of the Marina Bay circuit the Sauber F1 Team and Escudería Telmex driver could finally add one more point. Under pressure and with perseverance the Sauber C-30-Ferrari #17 driver confirmed what he said yesterday about getting into the points zone.
Of the many obstacles he had to overcome the most difficult was in lap 29 when he had a contact with Nico Rosberg of Mercedes GP and had to leave the track, then he got back in again and took control of his car, immediately after that Micheal Schumacher got into a spectacular collision that took him to retire from the race. Afterwards Schumacher would accept his fault.
Checo, on the other hand, came out well from both incidents but went to boxes right after with his left rear tire damaged, in what would be his second stop. He changed from super soft to soft compounds and made a stint of 31 laps with the same set of tires, proving to have become an expert in keeping hs tires.
For Checo this is his third competition in F1 finishing in the top ten and in the points zone, this were in Spain and England.
“It’s been a pity to lose one position in the last lap with Massa but my tires were already gone and I couldn’t force them more, but we’ll continue fighting to position once again in the sixth place” mentioned Checo.
