Coda Automotive did not have a press conference at the Los Angeles Auto Show. Recently, the electric car start-up announced it was pushing back the release date of its sedan to late 2011.
Introduced on Wednesday: (Kinda sorta – sans press conference) Coda EV
What is it? Coda is a start-up electric vehicle company funded by nonautomotive venture capitalists.
What makes it tick? A small electric motor and lithium-ion battery packs sourced from China that give it a promised range of about 100 miles. More technical details T.B.A.
How much, how soon? Good question. When the company’s chief executive, Kevin Czinger, stepped down just days ago — shortly after the company’s global sales chief left — it wasn’t surprising to hear the launch had been delayed until late next year. Plans are to sell it in malls and other retail locations for $44,900. Why not the iTunes app store?
How’s it look? I hope they have better luck selling this last-gen Lancer derivative than Mitsubishi did.
