GP 2 champion Pastor Maldonado is keen to end speculation linking him with a move to Williams in 2011 and sign a deal with the team.
Maldonado completed 81 laps for Williams at the young drivers tests in Abu Dhabi on Wednesday, after amassing 108 laps for HRT the day before.
Williams has a spare seat alongside Rubens Barrichello after Nico Hulkenberg was axed. Maldonado, who has considerable backing from Venezuela, would bring welcome backing to the outfit.
"We are pushing," Maldonado told Autosport when asked about where things stood with Williams. "I think that we improved together and increased our speed run by run. The team this morning concentrated on trying some aero set-ups. It was great for me because I never did that before, so it's a good experience that in the future I'm going to use."
Asked to compare the Williams and HRTs, he said: "They are different cars, but two professional teams. The Williams has much downforce, so it's quicker in the corners and on the brakes, but with the same engine so the power is not so different."
