Whitmarsh: We will keep pushing
Martin Whitmarsh has said that his McLaren team will keep pushing for the drivers title to the very end and will not give up until their drivers cross the line in Abu Dhabi.
Speaking to AUTOSPORT the McLaren boss said, "Winning any world championship is tough, and whilst it is mathematically possible we will keep pushing."
"At the moment if Lewis wins and Fernando doesn't finish, and there are not many points scored by the other boys then he wins."
Although Whitmarsh has said the Woking-based team will fight to the death, he will no doubt remember what happened in 2009 when the team struggled to get many points at the start of the season following their big title push to the very end of 2008, however he says, "You have to keep developing your car, you have to keep making it go quicker."
Speaking from a fans point-of-view, Whitmarsh couldn't be more excited about the season finale and said, "It is fantastic for F1 that we are going to the last round and four drivers could potentially come out of it as world champion - I believe it is the first time in history [this has happened]. This [alone] is fantastic for the sport and I hope people really do appreciate what a fantastic championship it has been."
