Whitmarsh to keep FOTA job?
Martin Whitmarsh will stay on as chairman of the Formula One Teams' Association (FOTA) for the 2011 season, according to a report.
McLaren team boss Whitmarsh took over from Ferrari's Luca di Montezemolo as head of FOTA at the end of last year, but his tenure was only supposed to last until the end of the 2010 season.
However, Autosport reports that 'with FOTA having made solid progress this year - including the framing of a revised Resource Restriction Agreement (RRA) to help bring down costs in the future - it was felt among teams during a meeting last week that it would be best for Whitmarsh to stay on board since the current structure appeared to be working well.'
'Another catalyst for the decision was that Brawn - viewed by many as the favourite to replace Whitmarsh - was not interested in taking over the chairmanship himself.'
FOTA will only make an announcement on their new chairman for the 2011 season in the new year.
