Alonso: “I’m a leader, not the leader”
Madonna di Campiglio, 13 January – Today at Wrooom Fernando Alonso began his 11th season in Formula 1, his second as a Ferrari driver. “I feel like a leader, not the leader,” began the Spanish driver, who has taken on the look of a musketeer, immediately proving how he’s entered into the spirit of the team without losing his individuality. “It would be nice to repeat 2010 – to be able to fight for the championship until the end,” said Fernando. “I think that it will be possible but we will begin to find out in the winter tests. We are totally focused on preparing in the best way to win both the titles. Our main opponents? It would be great if my rival was Felipe; that would mean we have the best car. I expect that there are at least four teams who will be battling: ourselves, Red Bull, McLaren and Mercedes. There will be five world champions on the track – and if I had to choose the most dangerous rival I would say Schumacher. He’s a driver who has won the most, he has nothing to prove and he certainly has every capacity to be the strongest.”
The car that will be presented at Maranello on January 28 will be the second Ferrari that Fernando has driven. “When I arrived at the team in 2010 the car was already prepared whereas this year, thanks to the reciprocal relationship between me and the engineers, we’ve been able to try to introduce everything that can be influenced by the driver. That includes the cockpit, the controls, the behaviour of the car based on driving style – that will be much more adapted to me compared with last year.”

Madonna di Campiglio, 13 gennaio – Ha preso il via oggi a Wrooom l’undicesima stagione di Fernando Alonso in Formula 1, la seconda da ferrarista. “Mi sento un leader, non il leader” – ha esordito il pilota spagnolo, presentatosi con un look da moschettiere, dimostrando subito come si sia integrato nello spirito della squadra senza perdere la sua individualità - “Sarebbe bello ripetere il 2010, vale a dire essere in grado di lottare fino in fondo per il mondiale. Penso che sarà possibile, lo inizieremo a capire nei testi invernali” – ha detto Fernando – “Siamo concentratissimi per prepararci nella maniera migliore per poter vincere entrambi i titoli. I miei avversari principali? Sarebbe bellissimo se il mio rivale fosse Felipe: vorrebbe dire che la nostra sarà la miglior macchina. Mi aspetto che ci siano almeno quattro squadre a darsi battaglia: noi, la Red Bull, la McLaren e la Mercedes. Saremo in cinque i campioni del mondo in pista e, se dovessi indicare l’avversario più pericoloso, farei il nome di Schumacher: è il pilota che ha vinto di più, non ha nulla da dimostrare e ha certo tutte le capacità per essere il più forte.”
La monoposto che verrà presentata a Maranello il prossimo 28 gennaio sarà la seconda Ferrari che guiderà Fernando: “Quando arrivai in squadra nel 2010 la macchina era già pronta mentre quest’anno, grazie alla conoscenza reciproca fra me e i nostri tecnici, abbiamo potuto cercare di introdurre tutte quelle cose che possono essere influenzate da un pilota, come l’abitacolo, i comandi, il comportamento della vettura in base allo stile di guida, che saranno molto più adattati a me rispetto all’anno scorso.”
