GreenBkk Formula 1 | Hispania hope to have car ready for Barcelona

Hispania hope to have car ready for Barcelona

Fears that Hispania may not have their 2011 challenger ready by the start of the season have been eased with team principal Colin Kolles revealing the car should be ready by the penultimate round of testing.

The team were handed a boast this week with the signing of driver Narain Karthikeyan, who came with considerable sponsorship, easing some of the financial pressure on the Spanish outfit.

Former Red Bull technical director Geoff Willis is designing the team's 2011 model, but Kolles admits it won't be ready in time for the first two rounds of testing in early February, with the team rather eyeing the 18 February test in Barcelona for its debut.

"We will be at the first test in Valencia with the old car," Kolles told Reuters.

"Maybe we will have the new one for the last two tests.

"We are now in the process of building the new car. The monococques are about ready, the gearbox and engine and hydraulics are there and the aero package is being released," he explained.
