Raikkonen: I didn't miss F1

Kimi Raikkonen insists that he didn't spend his first year in the World Rally Championship wishing he was still in Formula One.

Having begun his Formula One career in 2001 with Sauber, Raikkonen went on to claim the World Championship title with Ferrari in 2007 before leaving the Italian team at the end of 2009.

The Finn represented the Citroen Junior Team in the World Rally Championship in 2010, finishing his debut season in 10th position. Throughout the year, Raikkonen was linked with a return to F1, something the 31-year-old insists was never a serious possibility.

"Of course I thought about it, because you think about everything," Raikkonen told the official World Rally Championship when asked if he considered returning to F1.

"But I never really thought seriously about it, because actually I didn't miss Formula One at all this season.

"Before the start of this year I thought it would be interesting to see if I missed it at all and in fact I didn't."

While Raikkonen's days in F1 seem to be over, the Finn's participation in any form of motorsport have been thrown into doubt following the sudden death of his father two days before Christmas last year.

"Since the death of Matti Raikkonen, all the plans are on ice," Raikkonen's co-driver Kaj Lindstrom told Finnish newspaper Italehti.

"Let's hope he stays in rallying. The chances of success are much better in the second year than the first, because you don't have to be learning all sorts of things all of the time."
