Ecclestone hits out at Oz GP - again

Bernie Ecclestone has had another go at the Melbourne Grand Prix, saying Formula One does not need Australia.

Last month, Lord mayor Robert Doyle stated that he believed Melbourne's time to play host to a Formula One grand prix was up as local taxpayers were losing too much money supporting the race.

Ecclestone's response to that was to say that if Doyle wanted the race scrapped before its contract expired in 2015, he would be "happy to discuss that with him."

And the F1 supremo is apparently not ready to stop his attacks on Australia, now saying should he need to axe a race to make space for another venue, Australia would be one of the first to go.

"Twenty races is enough," Ecclestone told the German media.

"If we have some new races, some others will fall out - we don't need Australia, for instance..."
