Todt reveals Mateschitz respect

FIA president Jean Todt admits he has great admiration for Dietrich Mateschitz and the manner in which he has grown Red Bull Racingand Toro Rosso.

The Austrian businessman first entered F1 in 2004 when he nought the Jaguar team which he then rebranded Red Bull Racing. The following year, Mateschitz teamed up with compatriot Gerhard Berger to buy the Minardi team which now races as Scuderia Toro Rosso.

Both teams have come on in leaps and bounds since Mateschitz became involved, with Red Bull's extraordinary rise to the top evident in their capture of the 2010 Constructors' and Drivers' titles a supreme exmaple of this.

While the 66-year-old is happy to stay out of the limelight for the most part, his contribution has not gone unnoticed by Todt.

"I have great admiration for him," the Frenchman explained to the Salzburger Nachrichten.

"He is a sport fanatic, especially motorsport. When he started [in F1], many didn't think he could be so successful, but he has shown what can be done with enthusiasm, energy and dedication," he added.
