WRC 2011: KEN BLOCK ANSWERS FAN QUESTIONS AND TESTS WRC FIESTA FOR THE FIRST TIME
Continuing the hard charge into 2011, Monster World Rally Team driver Ken Block has been keeping extremely busy. Earlier in the week, we saw the new livery for the 2011 Monster Energy Ford Fiesta RS WRC revealed—with Monster Girls!—along with Block’s 2011 schedule. Now we have a clip of Block answering fan questions that were submitted through the MWRT Facebook page, as well as footage of Block and co-driver Alex Gelsomino tearing up the ice-covered roads of Sweden during their WRC testing.
WRC Sweden marks the first time that Block has been behind the wheel of the all new WRC Fiesta and it’s also the first time in his career that he’s had the chance to test with studded tires. In fact, in order to rack up some additional miles on studs, Block rented an S2000 Ford Fiesta from friend and fellow WRC driver Henning Solberg a few days prior to WRC Sweden to test with.
“I’m absolutely loving the new WRC car,” says Block. “It’s amazing. At first I wasn’t sure what to expect out of the 1.6 -liter turbo, but it actually feels faster than the WRC Focus with its 2-liter turbo engine. The Fiesta is just a great chassis for rally.”
