Trang step up tourism plan to attract more chinese tourists

BANGKOK, 19 February 2011 (NNT)-Director of the Tourism Authority of Thailand, Trang Office, Mr. Jaurn Chuennaitham has revealed in an interview with Radio Thailand journalist a twin- approach plan to attract Chinese tourists to boost tourism in Trang, Krabi and Satun provinces as well as the popular Hat Yai town of Songkhla.

In the first approach, tourists will be flown from China on a chartered flight to visit beaches in Krabi and Trang before closing off the day with Thai-Chinese dinner style in Trang. Meanwhile, tourists will visit Hat Yai first before embarking on a trip to Satun and Trang’s beaches respectively under the second strategy.

The Director also said in order to accommodate a growing number of chartered flights from China, the runway at Trang Airport should be expanded to 3 kilometers standard length. The expansion of the runway will allow travelers to land directly at the airport instead of going to Hat Yai first. Passenger terminals should also be repainted.
