The bloodline

COUNTACH 1974-1990

A radical departure from the classic Miura with hard-edged lines, the Countach set the design norm for the flagship Lambo. It spawned the LP400 and LP500 using 4.0- and 5.0-litre V12 engines while the 5000QV with 420hp 5.2-litre block rounded off the range.

DIABLO 1990-2000

With slightly subtler edges, the Diablo got more power thanks to a 492hp 5.7-litre variation which gradually went up to 520hp. It was followed by the 575hp GT and 590hp GTR. All-wheel-drive came for the first time for the interest of driving security.

MURCIELAGO 2001-2010

Engine size once again grew, this time to 6.2-litre pushing output to 580hp. The LP640 continued the trend with a 640hp 6.5-litre expansion, followed by the 650hp Reventon and 670hp Super Veloce (SV). Automated manual came for the first time.

AVENTADOR 2011

Latest model continues with arrow-shaped design and gets a mighty 700hp 6.5-litre unit to make it the fastest ever Lambo. Innovations include carbon fibre body and pushrod suspension. Like the Diablo and Murcielago, the Roadster open-top follows later.
