Triple world champion Sir Jackie Stewart was taken to hospital for precautionary checks on Wednesday after complaining of chest pains on a flight to Heathrow from Geneva.
He reportedly received onboard first aid treatment from a British Airways stewardess after passing out, but was said to be conscious when he was met by paramedics on arrival at the airport at 12.45pm.
His son, Paul Stewart, told BBC Sport later in the afternoon: "I've just spoken to him. He seemed absolutely fine. He did pass out and as a precaution was taken to hospital. Obviously we need to establish what happened. Hopefully he'll be checked over and it will be nothing more sinister."
British Airways confirmed: "Our flight crew requested a priority landing so that a male passenger could receive medical attention immediately on arrival."
Stewart was returning home from the Geneva Motor Show in Switzerland.
