The Ferrari Challenge North America takes to the track in Montreal

Montreal, 10 June – The third round of the season for the North American series of the Ferrari Challenge Trofeo Pirelli got underway today at the Gilles Villeneuve Circuit. The event runs alongside the Canadian Formula 1 Grand Prix and competitors in the eighteenth Stars and Stripes edition of the Ferrari one-make series today completed two free practice sessions. Sharing the track were eleven F430 Challenge cars, the model that has been used for the past thirteen years, alongside no less than fifteen 458 Challenge cars making their debut on Canadian soil. They ran in a combined session with separate classifications. Dominating among the F430 runners in the this morning’s session was Christopher Ruud (Ferrari of Silicon Valley) in a time of 1.47.560, while quickest in the afternoon was Guy LeClerc (Ferrari of Fort Lauderdale) in 1.46.352. Best of the 458 Challenge runners was Harry Cheung in the first session for Ferrari of Silicon Valley with a 1.42.345, while quickest in the second practice was Enzo Potolicchio (Ferrari of Fort Lauderdale) in 1.42.322.

Next up is tomorrow’s grid deciding qualifying session at 8.45 tomorrow, followed in the afternoon by the first race of what will be a busy racing weekend.
