COMING SOON . . . PART II

Previewed here in official sketches

JAGUAR C-X16

Jaguar is set to add a fourth model to its lineup late next year in the guise of a new entry-level coupe positioned below today's XK. Although the C-X16 will be shown in concept form next month, it is claimed to look very close to the market-ready one, likely to be called XE to conform with the brand's current range. The C-X16 is said to be designed on a shortened platform of the XK and would accommodate V6 power rather the XK's eight-pot.

AUDI URBAN SPYDER CONCEPT

Just a week after Audi disclosed the first sketch of its Urban Concept, the open-top variant dubbed Spyder follows. Both bodystyles will be shown at the same time at September's Frankfurt motor show and they underscore Audi's vision of urban electric car motoring. Sources say the Ingolstadt boys want to offer a solution to BMW's "i" cars and Mercedes-Benz's Smart, both of which have been showcased with pure electric propulsion.

ETERNITI

Britain is set to unveil a new luxury car brand at the German motor show: Eterniti, which is not to be confused with Nissan's posh Infiniti nameplate. No details have emerged yet such as who will be the partners in supplying the engine and body, but Eterniti's first car will be a big crossover to rival super SUVs like the Porsche Cayenne Turbo. Eterniti has been formed by a group of international investors and is registered in the UK.
