Our motorhome guests got more than they bargained for last night. A group from Oris were listening to a Q&A session with Pastor Maldonado prior to dinner when Lewis Hamilton walked in. The 2008 World Champion wanted to talk to Pastor following their coming together during qualifying and our sponsor got the low-down! There wasn’t much to see however, as the pair disappeared off to clear the air ahead of Sunday’s race!

Lewis’s grand entrance wasn’t the only unscripted part of Saturday evening. Matt Jones, our head of marketing, left his mobile phone in his office and was forced to flag down the motorhome girls while they were driving back to the hotel to get the key. Surely an ex-army boy like Matt could have picked the lock? Or abseiled down the side of the motorhome and smashed a window? (Forget the latter idea, Ed).

Bernie Ecclestone made his first appearance at Spa-Francorchamps today following the marriage of his daughter Petra in Rome. He looked a little tired, and could he have been nursing a bit of a sore head? He’s alleged to have spent £1 million on wine at the lavish bash at Rome’s Odescalchi castle, and you’d forgive him for enjoying a glass or two…

John Surtees, the only man to have won the world championship on two and four wheels, waved the chequered flag at the end of today’s Belgian Grand Prix. And, unlike footballing legend Pélé, who was asked to do the same job at the 2002 Brazilian GP, John managed to wave it at the right car!
