F1 rivals join Massa’s charity karting challenge


More than a quarter of the current Formula One grid is to take part in Felipe Massa’s annual karting event later this year, with six of the Ferrari driver’s rivals having agreed to participate in the charity fundraiser.

Those expected to head to Florianopolis in Brazil in December are Williams’ Rubens Barrichello and Pastor Maldonado, Renault’s Bruno Senna, HRT’s Vitantonio Liuzzi, Toro Rosso’s Jaime Alguersuari and Force India’s Adrian Sutil.

The full line-up contains a plethora a famous names from world motorsport. Among the others with F1 connections are former Virgin racer Lucas di Grassi, Ferrari reserve Jules Bianchi and ex-Jaguar driver Luciano Burti.

Massa launched his ‘Challenge of the Stars’ back in 2005 and former winners include Massa himself, Barrichello and Michael Schumacher. This year’s event takes place on December 3-4.
