Frankfurt 2011 Live: SsangYong XIV-1 Concept

SsangYong came to Frankfurt Motor Show 2011 with the XIV-1 Concept, a model that will fight in the B segment and projects the future appearance of South Korean brand’s creations.

SsangYong reborns at Frankfurt with its new concept, the XIV-1. We speak of a future compact crossover that anticipates the appearance of following SsangYong models. SsangYong XIV-1 Concept has generous glass surfaces and flowing lines, which give it a less aggressive appearance.

As with any concept, we have a number of elements that have no chance to get into production, such as a curved windscreen, full panoramic glass roof and extremely large C-pillars. These are the only ones with a real chance to go into production, although that could disturb the driver during a reverse maneuver.

The SsangYong XIV-1 Concept interior is specially designed for various configurations of the seats. There will also be a digital interface that contains all the controls for the systems in the cockpit. This can also be accessed via a mobile device. The name, XIV-1, derived from “Exciting User Interface Vehicle“. From these photographs it appears that the back doors will open in reverse, suicide doors style. Either way, XIV-1 Concept shows that Ssangyong has learned from past mistakes.
