Cavendish takes world title riding the S-Works + McLaren Venge bike
There was another McLaren victory at the weekend as British cyclist Mark Cavendish won the coveted Rainbow Jersey at the UCI World Championships on his S-Works + McLaren Venge bike.
Cavendish, who beat Australian Matt Goss in a sprint to the finish line at the end of the event in Denmark, became the first Briton to claim the title for 46 years.
The eight-man British team - in a rare event where riders compete on behalf of their country - rode a near-perfect race over the 266km course.
"It's incredibly emotional to be World Champion,” he said after the race. “Everything had to be perfect. Every detail in the team, every detail in my preparation and every detail with my bike. My special edition (S-Works and McLaren) Venge, didn't just look incredible, but was my perfect weapon for the sprint."
This marks another great achievement for Cavendish and the bike he rode, the S-Works + McLaren Venge, during the Tour de France to claim the Green Jersey.
The S-Works +McLaren Venge bike was developed in a partnership between McLaren Applied Technologies and US performance bike manufacturer: Specialized. It was launched at the McLaren Technology Centre in March this year and won on its debut outing, when Matt Goss rode it to victory in the Milan-San Remo sprint event in Italy.Credit: McLaren (mclaren.com)
