Red Bull Speed Jam made a pit stop in Cardiff Bay for the ultimate motorsports takeover at the weekend and revved up more than 5,000 fans in the process.
On Saturday 3 September, the Red Bull Speed Jam had enough power to entertain thousands of motorsports fans in Cardiff, UK, as a Red Bull Racing Formula One car and a Red Bull NASCAR car created a turbo-fuelled atmosphere. The racing cars were driven by our current Formula One drivers, Mark Webber and Daniel Ricciardo, while motorbike stunt rider Chris Pfeiffer left the crowds in awe, as he performed an array of spectacular tricks. The mind-blowing aerobatic stunt pilots - the Red Bull Matadors also soared over Cardiff Bay in a typically unique flying-display, leaving thrill-seeking crowds hungry for more.
Mark Webber burned through Cardiff's streets in our Red Bull Racing Formula One Showcar, giving fans a true, first-hand experience of one of the world’s most adrenaline-fuelled sports. He said of the event:
“The track was pretty tight and twisty compared to a full-size Formula 1 track, but I had fun out there today. It’s nice for Red Bull Racing to bring the car right into the middle of the city where the fans can watch, listen and experience the thrills of Red Bull motorsports.”
The high-octane event also played host to the finals of the Red Bull Kart Fight go-karting competition. 36 finalists battled it out for a place on the podium after racing the custom built street course. After the action-packed heats, Bradley Philpot from Northampton was crowned the 2011 Red Bull Kart Fight Champion.
Hosted by Jake Humphrey and Layla Anna-Lee, the event saw around 5,000 fans flock to the race track making the day a huge success.
