For once, there was no rush. Instead of dismantling the motorhome as soon as the chequered flag dropped, the AT&T Williams motorhome staff were offering drinks and generally chilling out in the late-Autumn sunshine. You see, they’ve got until May next year to get the motorhome to the next race!
Talking of motorhomes, there was an unexpected reversal of roles at Mercedes Grand Prix last night. The team’s PR staff cooked, served and washed up dinner, while the cooks and front-of-house staff sat back and enjoyed themselves. There were huge sighs of relief when no-one reported in sick today!
The Tifosi got the fright of their lives this morning. As they queued to get into Monza, they were passed by Ferrari team principal Stefano Domenicali on a bike. “It’s one of the advantages of this race,” said Stefano. “I live just 500 metres from the track, so I can avoid the traffic queues by going to work on a bike.”
Another man avoiding the traffic was David Coulthard. The 13-time grand prix winner couldn’t stick queuing to get out of the circuit after the race, so he used the oncoming traffic’s lane and sent lots of confused and hooting Fiats and Alfas onto the verge! Only at Monza…
