After the tragic death of Dan Wheldon, one of the best known drivers in Indycar, last sunday (16.10.2001) in a hard crash happened in the race at Las Vegas, the last one of the 2011season, tragedy struck again this time in a MotoGP accident.

Italian rider Marco Simoncelli was involved in a fatal MotoGP accident sunday (23.10.2011) on the Sepang circuit. Marco Simoncelli was racing in the penultimate race of the MotoGP season.
Simoncelli lost control of his motorcycle while fighting for fourth place with Alvaro Bautista and fell right in front of Colin Edwards from Yamaha and Valentino Rossi from Ducati. A motogp accident inevitable occurred because the two couldn’t avoid the impact, Simoncelii being hit in full by their motorcycles.
Simoncelli’s helmet came off and the Italian remained lying on the circuit. He was rushed to hospital but doctors could not save him. At 4:56 PM local time death of Marco Simoncelli was announced.

Marco Simoncelli was one of the most talented riders in MotoGP and it was in its second season in the high class with Gresini Honda team.
The Italian was European champion at the 125cc class. He fought in the 125cc class world championship until 2006 when he moved to Moto2. During the next four seasons he ride with Gilera team and in 2008 became the world champion of Moto2 beating Alvaro Bautista. In 2010 he moved up to the queen class: MotoGP . In this season he become one of the class leaders winning the pole position for the races in Barcelona and Assen and its first podium in MotoGP at the race in Brno. Simoncelli’s best result was second place in Australia, obtained a week ago.
