What are the New Jaguars Really Like?
Jaguar is a car company with a massively long tradition of making cars that not only perform, but that look amazing as well. Ever since the iconic cars of the 1960s they have maintained their grip on the market of people looking for cars that will impress, but that will also do everything that a car should, unlike some of their rivals who value style over substance. There have been a number of new Jaguar releases recently and the question on everyone’s lips is are the new releases up to the same standard as their predecessors and are they indeed better? Read on to find out…
So to start off with, it is perhaps prudent to talk about the new release that everyone has been excited about – the Jaguar C-X16; a car with all the sleek looks to make even the biggest Jaguar haters swoon and the capabilities under the bonnet to blow the cocks off almost any other competitor in its price range.
With a 0-60 time of just 4.4 seconds, a top speed of 186mph and a mammoth 3.0 litre supercharged V6 engine, you can imagine that this is one fast ride. The fact is though that although fast, the ride is smooth as well, with the perfect balance of suspension and drive to complement the luxuriously comfortable interior.
Perhaps the biggest talking point about the new Jaguar c-X16 though is the way that it harnesses electric power to assist with the running. Now, don’t worry, this is no Prius, but what it will do is switch to electric power should the petrol start running dangerously low, therefore meaning that you can coast at up to 50mph until you find a convenient place to fill up. Then you can put the pedal to the metal and really use the Jaguar C-X16’s full capabilities again…
Overall, the new Jaguar C-X16 is a car that looks like it will revolutionize the way in which people drive and, more importantly, the enjoyment that they get from driving. With high power but also a nod to the more environmental side, this car could well be the blueprint for the way future models are built, both by Jaguar and by other car companies around the world.
For the next new Jaguar release we take a step down the cost ladder, but don’t be fooled as this one isn’t cheap by most peoples’ standards either! The new Jaguar XKR-S is billed as being the fastest and most powerful sports model that Jaguar have ever built, and the stats really back up this claim.
With a top speed of 186mph and 0-60 in just 4.2 seconds, the XKR-S might not be as stylish as the previously mentioned C-X16, but boy does it match up in terms of performance. For a performance car the fuel consumption is also reasonable, with an average of 23 mpg, which is far higher than many other models of similar technical specifications.
When it comes to the looks of the XKR-S, the first thing that people will notice is that this new Jaguar is distinctly, well, un-Jaguar like. Sure, it has the resemblance to a regular Jaguar in terms of its shape, but instead of looking sleek and cool, it instead looks powerful and dominating.
Perhaps the best description would be it looks as though a Jaguar and a Mustang have been merged into one. While this might put some people off, there is no doubting that this new change in direction from Jaguar has produced something that certainly turns heads. It is a great choice for those who love to show off the raw power of any machine that they are driving.
It is clear to see that the new Jaguar range is more than living up to expectations. Granted, there will be people who dislike the direction that the manufacturer has taken, but there will be more who are now drawn towards Jaguar, meaning that their fan base will grow. So, if you have the money to purchase one of these highly sought after cars, then this writer would certainly recommend that you do so. Or you could simply follow the crowd and buy an Audi…
