The Ferrari Challenge Asia Pacific arrives in Malaysia

Sepang, 30 September – After three rounds held in China, the cars entered in the Asia Pacific series of the Ferrari Challenge Pirelli Trophy returned to action today at Malaysia’s Sepang circuit for the fourth round of the year.

The new series, which featured more than twenty 458 Challenge cars in the previous rounds, confirms the healthy appetite for this recently-created competition. That is further demonstrated by how much the drivers have appreciated the choice of such a demanding track, which was designed both for speed and spectacle.

Today was dedicated to two sessions of free practice. Next there will be more timed sessions tomorrow to decide the starting grids for the two races which will get under way on Sunday at 1145 and 1520 local Malaysian time.

In the first session, the 458 Challenge crewed by Eric Hsiang e Jeffrey Lee was the quickest of the entrants for the Trofeo Pirelli, while the gentleman driver Francis Hideki Onda secured the best lap time in the Coppa Shell. Ringo Chong then topped the timesheets (2:14.922) in the Pirelli Trophy’s second session while Steve Wyatt was fastest (2.14.980) in the Coppa Shell.
