Team Principal Pays Tribute To IndyCar's Dan Wheldon

Christian Horner today paid tribute to Daniel Wheldon, the IndyCar racer he had known since the driver’s karting days.

Wheldon tragically died while competing at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway on Sunday.

On his return from Korea, Christian said: “I’d know Daniel since, I guess, he must have been nine years of age when he was first racing in Cadet Karts against the likes of Jenson Button and Anthony Davidson.

“He would become a multiple British kart champion and a stand-out driver of the future, so it was with great sadness that I learned about his tragic accident on Sunday. On behalf of all the members of the Red Bull team our sincere condolences go to his family at what must be a very difficult time.

“I last saw him at Goodwood in the summer where he was enjoying driving, revelling having won the Indy 500 for the second time and it’s a tragic loss for him to have passed away at such a young age.”
