If the stories are true, Mokpo’s love motels give the media everything they need except for a good night’s sleep and some food. We can’t help on the sleep front (are they Turning Japanese? – geddit?), but we can give the British press sustenance and so we’re reinstating the British press breakfasts here and in India. Rest assured that there’s some corner of a foreign field that is forever England.
Our PR girl Claire Williams looked flushed after running the track this evening, but the reason might not have had anything to do with her physical exertions. Partway through the lap she was overtaken by newly crowned double world champion Sebastian Vettel. Not the first time a Red Bull has overtaken a Williams this year!
Segments of the jet-lagged pressroom looked even more tired than normal today. The reason? Baseball. Outside one of the media hotels is a floodlit baseball practice ground and the press – BBC Radio 5 Live in particular – claims it’s being kept awake by the constant ‘chink’ of bat on ball. If they dragged themselves out of the nets at a decent hour, they might feel less tired!
Happy birthday to our race team co-ordinator, Paul Singlehurst. He was trying to keep it quiet. Er… Sorry Paul!
