Who said the Koreans weren’t interested in Formula One? Our sponsorship man Matt Jones was awoken at 0600 today by his guests, who were in the lobby of his hotel and wanting to be taken to the racetrack. Hold your horses, guys, the on-track action didn’t start until 11am – but we love your enthusiasm!

The pace of the FW33 might not have set the world alight in qualifying this afternoon, but our head of comms, Claire Williams, was on fire. She rattled through the team’s media briefings faster than at any other race this year. Rubens completed his Portuguese and English sessions in less than 15 minutes – that’s unheard of.

Happy birthday to Renault star Bruno Senna and FIA photographers’ delegate Pat Behar. Bruno turned 28 today and Pat 63, but sadly for Bruno it wasn’t a great day at the office. He qualified 15th, seven places behind team-mate Vitaly Petrov.

The F1 paddock stopped dead this evening to watch Wales play France in the semi-finals of the rugby World Cup. Never before have so many Englishmen shouted so vehemently for Wales. Could the paddock’s screaming disapproval concerning the sending off of Welsh captain Sam Warburton be heard at Eden Park?! Wales deserved to win, according to the Brits at the Korea International Circuit. (Careful… Remember who our engine partner is next year – Ed).
