Felipe Massa says that he wants to improve on his performances in 2012, but that Ferrari needs to do the same.

It has been a disappointing season for Ferrari, with only one win coming courtesy of Fernando Alonso at the British Grand Prix. For Massa, however, it's been even worse, with a best-placed finish of fifth, and less than half the points of his team-mate. After Ferrari president Luca di Montezemolo said that he would have to prove himself next season, Massa said that he was looking to challenge for race victories from the first race of the year.

"This year has not gone so well, but we have tackled it with our usual fighting spirit and that is what we will take forward to next year, when we hope to have a very different sort of championship to this one just ending," Massa said. "The intention is to be competitive right from the start, fighting for the win in every race."

Massa also said that it wasn't just him that needed to improve next season, but also the team, and that the two would share a common goal over the winter.

"This has not been a fantastic season for me, but neither has it been for the team. So as a driver, I have a very strong desire which I share with the whole team to give one hundred percent to improve for next year."
