The Abu Dhabi Grand Prix left crossed feelings for Sergio Pérez, the Mexican driver of Sauber F1 Team finished in the 11th position after overcoming a contact he had with Adrian Sutil during the first lap, which forced him to an early pit stop and coming back on track in the last positions.
After this event he went back to track in one of the last positions and even though he could overtake up to the ninth place his tires couldn’t keep him in position and despite having fought for a while with his teammate Kamui Kobayashi for the tenth position, he finally lost it.
Sergio, Escudería Telmex driver, commented on the phone about his experience, “The contact with Sutil affected me much, we had to change strategy because I had to pit early and besides that during the last 20 laps I had problems with my KERS and couldn’t finish in the tenth positions”.
“Checo” knows that his not adding points also affected Sauber in their opportunity for a better position in the constructors championship, “our goal was to finish in the points zone and fight with Force India and Toro Rosso, but now with only one race to go it’s much more difficult, we won’t be able to fight.”
The conclusion about the race is clear, how do you feel about the race? Sergio responded, “I’m satisfied with my performance but upset with mu contact with Sutil”.

El Gran Premio de Abu Dhabi dejó sentimientos encontrados para Sergio Pérez, el piloto mexicano de Sauber F1 Team terminó en la undécima posición después de superar un ligero contacto con Adrian Sutil en la arrancada, que obligó a “Checo” a una prematura entrada a boxes y reanudar en las últimas posiciones.
Después de este incidente, se reincorporó en las últimas posiciones y aun cuando escaló posiciones hasta el noveno, los neumáticos no le alcanzaron para mantenerse adelante de su compañero de equipo Kamui Kobayashi, con quien mantuvo un duelo durante algunas vueltas por el décimo lugar, que al final de cuentas, perdería el tapatío.
Vía telefónica, Sergio platicó sobre lo ocurrido: “Me afectó bastante ese choque, cambiamos la estrategia porque tuve que ir a pits de inmediato y si a eso le sumamos que en las últimas 20 vueltas tuve problemas con el KERS, eso me impidió terminar en la decima posición”, indicó el piloto formado en Escudería TELMEX.
“Checo” sabe que también la falta de puntos alejó a Sauber de la oportunidad de pelear por una mejor posición en la carrera de constructores, “nuestro objetivo era estar dentro de una zona buena peleando con Force India y con Toro Rosso, pero ahora con una sola carrera que resta ese escenario cambia, ya no podemos pelear”.
La conclusión sobre la carrera es clara: a pregunta expresa ¿cómo te deja esta carrera?, Sergio respondió: “En mi desempeño me quedo contento y molesto con el contacto con Sutil”, finalizó.
