Darryl Read Rocks Pattaya

Pattaya is indeed very lucky to receive regular visits from English Rock-n-Roll star Darryl Read, who is on record as having the first “Punk-Rock” band. As a highly professional performer, he not only sings in various countries around the world, (including Pattaya in Thailand), but is also a prolific song writer.

Pattaya, 10th February 2011: – Although growing up in England, rock singer Darryl Read has spent most of his musical career based in Germany, where he first became famous in the underground rock music entertainment industry. Like many of those who became famous in the field of music Darryl’s teachers considered him to be a poor prospect academically, but when it came to learning drums & guitar he had a meteoric rise to success.

One of his big breaks came while playing in an American nightclub, when the owner of a leading US recording company asked if they could record him singing his style of rock songs. The successes never stopped and Darryl is based in Germany with his band, he also is often the star attraction at big Rock-n-Roll shows in countries as diverse as Portugal, England, Germany, Thailand and Spain.

Darryl Read is now doing a variety of gigs in Pattaya and the most recent one saw the “Blues Factory” nightclub in Walking Street, absolutely packed full of Darryl Read’s eager fans. It is very pleasing to see both the “Blues Factory” and the nearby “Good Fellas” nightclub are among a few of the Walking Street entertainment venues that are presenting up¨-market entertainment, to change the image of this popular night spot. The next big event is the Bhurapa Bike Festival, which attracts tens of thousands of visitors to Pattaya and Darryl is billed to appear as one of the leading singers with other great entertainers such as Thailand’s Lam Morrison. This will be on Saturday 12th February at the big Soi Chaiyapreuk-2 outdoor stadium and this will attract thousands of spectators in a big “must see” entertainment show.

The occasional holiday trips to Pattaya have become regular long term stays, as Darryl found the vibrant entertainment life of Pattaya to be a great inspiration for new songs such as “Butterfly Smile” and many others based on his observations of life in Pattaya. Traditional Rock-n-Roll has made a real comeback in recent years, (or maybe it never really died away), and Darryl sees it growing in Thailand, because it fits in with Thai musical tastes very well. There is no need to re-invent what is already there, so as well as the “golden oldies,” the younger generation are also taking renewed interest in Rock-n-Roll style music and songs.
