McLaren boss Ron Dennis has been banned from driving on the road for six months after accumulating 12 penalty points on his licence. He was also fined £350.
Dennis appeared before magistrates in Woking, close to the McLaren base, after failing to stop at a red light. He was given three points on his licence, taking him to 12 points and triggering a mandatory six-month ban.
Dennis said a ban would impact on his work and family life and that he had jumped the lights to avoid a collision, but his arguments were dismissed by the magistrates
"It was the decision I took for which I realise I'm here to take the penalty, but as I have said I really need my licence," Dennis said in court. "I have no hardship but I would have a massive amount of trouble not being able to look after my daughter at the weekends."
