BMW M5′s launch is fast approaching and the rival from Ingolstadt has already prepared the next move. According to the newspaper De Telegraaf, the Audi officials are ready to launch in 2012 the new Audi RS4 and Audi RS6.
German manufacturer Audi is preparing a big surprise for fans of adrenaline and horsepower. According to the Dutch journalists from De Telegraaf, the Germans will launch in 2012 the new generation Audi RS6, a model which should normally make its appearance in 2013. The reason why Audi officials are rushing is the upcoming BMW M5 model which is expected to make an appearance this year. In order to compete on an equal foot also with Mercedes E63 AMG, Audi engineers will have to come up with a powerful engine. There are rumors that the future Audi RS6 will benefit from the services of a V10 5.0-liter TFSI unit or the 4.0 liter V8 twin-turbocharged, engines that are capable of producing up to 600 horsepower.
Audi is also busily testing the future Audi RS4 on the Nurburgring circuit. The new Audi RS4 will hide under the bonnet the 4.2-liter V8, capable of producing 450 horsepower and can develop a maximum torque of 430 Nm which is transmitted to wheels through an S-tronic gearbox with seven reports. The future Audi RS4 is scheduled to make an appearance before the public at the Frankfurt Motor Show this year, but it will only be available in Avant version (Audi RS4 Avant).
