Bruno Senna ruins Jaime Alguersuari's race at Spa

August 28 2011

Jaime Alguersuari has been forced to retire from the Belgian Grand Prix after being hit by Bruno Senna's Lotus-Renault. This is the third retirement of the season for the Spaniard, who was not the man to blame of the incident.

The dream turned into a nightmare. What could have been Jaime's best F-1 race ended just a few meters from the lights. The Spaniard, who had been congratulated by Bernie Ecclestone on the grid for its excellent qualifying yesterday, started well, placing his Toro Rosso in fifth in the approach to La Source. However, a surprise guest appeared: Bruno Senna. The Brazilian missed the braking point and collided with Jaime, breaking his front suspension. Minutes later, Senna was considered guilty and received a penalty. This one has been Jaime's third retirement this season.

Jaime Alguersuari will try to renew hopes within two weeks in one of the world's F-1 cathedrals, the Monza circuit.
