Frankfurt 2011 Live: the BMW stand

The new BMW M5, BMW 1 Series and the green concepts i3 and i8 represented the highlights of the first press day at the BMW stand at Frankfurt Motor Show 2011.


BMW had much to show in Frankfurt in their stand being displayed models as the new BMW M5 F10, the BMW i3 and BMW i8 concepts, the new BMW 1 Series as well as the older BMW 5 Series, BMW 6 Series Coupe and the new models from Mini.













BMW 1 Series

The new BMW 1 Series generation debuted in Frankfurt. The model remains the only rear-wheel drive compact and the Germans promise extra sportiness and efficiency, although they renounced at the six-cylinder engines. BMW 1 Series will be offered in five engine versions. Two of them are petrol, and the other three are diesel. The new generation of BMW 1 Series will be the first compact car who will be equipped with an eight-speed automatic transmission and the automated Start/Stop system is standard for both versions with automatic transmission as well as the manual transmission versions.

BMW M5


BMW M5 publicly debuted at the Frankfurt Motor Show and is the latest iteration of the performance sedan from Munich. The new BMW M5 is equipped with a V8 TwinPower Turbo, which develops 560 hp between 6000 and 7000 rpm. Maximum torque provided by this unit is 680 Nm and is offered between 1500 and 5750 rpm. Acceleration from 0-100 km/h (0-60 mph) is accomplished in 4.4 seconds, while during the 0-200 km/h (125 mph) is 13 seconds.

BMW i3 and BMW i8

BMW i3 and BMW i8 concepts were presented in Frankfurt, which have two different strategies of propulsion, both with an electric motor, with various additions. BMW i3 will be the first electric series model from the BMW Group. BMW i3 is designed for urban areas and recommend itself as the first premium electric vehicle. BMW i8 concept is a true jewel of sustainable technology. We are talking about a hybrid model which incorporates the electric motor of 170 hp and 250 Nm from i3 and uses an additional 220 hp unit otto and 300 nm.

BMW 6 Series Coupe

The third generation of the BMW 6 Series Coupe debuted in Frankfurt. The new BMW 6 Series Coupe is available with three engine versions, two petrol, found also on the convertible version, and a diesel. All of them benefit from the latest Efficient Dynamics technological developments, provided along an automatic transmission with eight reports. Customers can opt for the latest Bavarian technologies including Integral Active Steering, Driving Dynamic, Dynamic Damper Control and Adaptive Drive.

Mini Coupe Cooper S


Mini presented in Frankfurt its first two-seater, called Coupe Cooper S. The Mini Coupe Cooper S model will have between 122 and 211 hp and will be offered also in a diesel version, the manufacturer promising an excellent level of handling. The Mini Coupe Cooper S debut will take place during this autumn. Mini Coupe Cooper S diesel version is equipped with a 2.0 liter engine that develops 143 hp and 305 Nm.
