Frankfurt 2011 Live: Infiniti FX Sebastian Vettel Version and… Sebastian Vettel
Infiniti brought to Frankfurt Motor Show 2011 an FX SUV dedicated to the Formula 1 driver Sebastian Vettel: Infiniti FX Sebastian Vettel Version. In addition, they announced a future electric model.
The Infiniti stand at Frankfurt Auto Show was dominated by the special edition of an modified FX SUV especially for Sebastian Vettel, the current Formula 1 world champion. Infiniti and Red Bull Racing are partners, Vettel is a global ambassador for the premium brand from Japan. Six months ago at the Geneva Motor Show, Sebastian Vettel had a discussion with an Infiniti official - and that is how the idea for this special model was born.
The Japanese engineers have modified an Infiniti FX50S Premium in just six months. Modifications were made as described by Sebastian Vettel and the result has been exposed in this unique form: Infiniti FX Sebastian Vettel Version. Infiniti FX Sebastian Vettel Version will not be produced in series, not even in a limited edition.
The V8 engine power was increased by 30 hp reaching now 420 hp. This was made possible by a new exhaust system plus an electronic brain reprogramming. Then it was removed the electronically limitation of maximum speed. Thus, Infiniti FX Sebastian Vettel Version can romp without problems at 300 km/h (187 mph). Acceleration from 0-100 km/h (0-60 mph) is made in 5.6 seconds.
In return, Infiniti took advantage of the first press day of the show to announce a future electric model that will enter its range in 2014.
Also on the Japanese stand we could see an Infiniti G37 Cabrio and the Infiniti Etheria concept car. And, of course, a Red Bull Racing Formula 1 monopost!
