Hyundai i30 – the second generation: official pictures and information

Hyundai has released today the first official pictures of the second generation of the compact i30. It comes with a greatly improved design, the interior being also more appealing.

Six years after the official launch on the European market, Hyundai i30 comes with a new face and a new range of engines that announces the second generation of the Korean model.

Design

Built on the same platform that Kia Cee’d is developed, Hyundai i30 so far remained in the shadow of Kia model regarding the design, Hyundai preferring to attract customers with a slightly increased age. Well, with the second generation of the i30, Hyundai stripped its shabby looks and displays a young and full of dynamism shabby looks, in line with recent age range of the Korean manufacturer. “Fluidic sculpture” line, started with the release of Hyundai ix35, looks like a new face, a compact one, brand’s philosophy already being present on almost the entire Hyundai range except the SUVs Santa Fe and Veracruz.

The design changes made on Hyundai ix35 have a positive effect on the car’s exterior as well as the interior. Thus, if on the outside we are dealing with a radical stylistic change, within we found a much more colorful interior, characterized by shapes and lines reminding of those from the sports compact Veloster.

Engines

Customers that will choose the new Hyundai i30 will be provided with four engines, two petrol and two diesel. At the petrol chapter we are talking about a 1.4 with 100 horsepower and a 1.6 GDI with 140 horsepower, while diesel fans will be able to order a 90 horsepower 1.4 CRDi or a 1.6 CRDI with 126 horsepower. All four units available on Hyundai i30 will be coupled to a standard six-speed gearbox, customers will also have an optional automatic transmission with six reports.

The official debut of the new Hyundai i30 will take place at the Frankfurt Motor Show on 13 September, as dealers will receive the Korean model in showrooms in the first half of 2012. The Estate version will follow in the autumn of 2012, while a three-door version – a first for the i30 range – will appear on the market in 2013.
