FDA – Marciello takes his second win of the season at Adria
Maranello, 4 September – Thanks to a lightning start which took him straight into the lead of Race 1, Ferrari Driver Academy student Raffaele Marciello took his second win of the season at the Adria circuit, in this weekend’s fifth round of the Italian Formula 3 Championship. The Prema Powerteam youngster thus recorded his first ever Race 1 win, which is the most important in terms of points. At the start, he got past fellow FDA colleague Brandon Maisano who was unable to capitalise on the advantage of starting from pole position, but he went on to take a strong second place.
Race 2, in which the grid is reversed, was made even more complicated by the arrival of rain. Maisano finished it in fourth spot, while Marciello came home tenth, having made a mistake in the closing stages. He is now third in the championship, seven points behind the leader Sergio Campana (BVM-Target on 86 points.) Maisano is fourth on 77.
The next round of the Italian Formula 3 Championship takes place over the weekend of 18 September at the Vallelunga circuit.
