Motor Trend names Ferrari 458 Italia “2011 Best Driver’s Car”
Maranello, 14 September 2011. Motor Trend, one of the oldest and most prestigious American automotive publications, known for its Car of the Year awards since it first published in 1949, has crowned the Ferrari 458 Italia “2011 Best Driver’s Car”.
The 458 Italia was up against a field of 10 other performance cars which were evaluated in a variety of situations to determine which delivered the most rewarding overall experience to the driver. According to the magazine’s road test editors, “the fine quality of its actions, the satisfaction it gives to its pilot, and the simple sense that nothing else even comes halfway close make the Ferrari 458 Italia the 2011 Motor Trend Best Driver's Car.”
The 458 Italia has proved to be the benchmark by which all other sports cars are measured and continues to receive critical and public acclaim, as is confirmed by the over 30 international awards it has already accumulated. Among these is recent recognition received from China, now Ferrari’s second-largest market, where the 458 Italia was presented with the 2011 China Automobile Industry Outstanding Achievement Award.
This accolade joins other top awards such as BBC Top Gear’s “Car of the Year” and “Supercar of the Year”. The car also met with the enthusiasm of the German automotive public which voted it Best Sports Car 2011 in the prestigious specialist magazine Auto Motor und Sport, while other important recognition has come from the USA, including World Performance Car of the Year 2011 as well as Robb Report’s Car of the Year 2011.
