Di Resta: waiting to find out if he will be retained by Force India

Paul di Resta has vowed to be patient after learning he will have to wait another two months for a decision on his future.

Force India recently made it clear they will not confirm their line-up until around the time of the FIA Gala awards ceremony in Delhi in early December.

It leaves 25-year-old Di Resta and team-mates Adrian Sutil, who has been linked with Williams, and reserve Nico Hulkenberg in limbo up until that point.

Just two weeks ago Di Resta stated he would prefer a decision as to whether he will remain with the Silverstone-based team for a second year sooner rather than later.

Concentrate

His wish, however, is on hold as he said: "Like anybody you would prefer that.

"You'd ideally like somebody to tell you what is going to happen tomorrow, but this is the way it is. You have to be patient.

"All I can do is concentrate on my driving, and leave other people to take care of my best interests.

"The decision lies with the team. I've just got to concentrate on my own performance, and then go with the attitude of what will be will be.

"I'm enjoying my experiences here, they're a great team, I've been part of them now for almost two years.

"They've a lot of ambitions, and naturally I'd like to be part of that in the future."

Di Resta has conceded to being so focused on what will be his first night race this weekend in Singapore that he had no idea Sebastian Vettel could retain his title at the Marina Bay Street Circuit.

Vettel, whose nearest challenger is Ferrari's Fernando Alonso who is 112 points adrift, needs to be 125 clear by the end of the race to become the youngest back-to-back world champion in F1 history.

"Of course, you would love to be involved in that, but it's a bit different for us," added the Scot.

"Even if he does win it here I still believe he and the team (Red Bull) will be going for race wins.

"Some of the other teams have kind of adopted the philosophy that this year is now written off and are concentrating on next year.

"But I'm sure people will trip over themselves and there will be different results. I don't think it will all go their way."

Battle

For Force India, they are embroiled in their own private battle for sixth place in the constructors' championship with Sauber and Toro Rosso.

It is a position they finally acquired following the race in Italy 11 days ago, when Di Resta finished eighth, to leapfrog Sauber by a point, whilst Toro Rosso are seven behind.

Given the vast sums of money at stake for each place in the table, Di Resta said: "There's no reason why we can't consolidate sixth.

"We were the chasing team, but we've caught up and overtook. We've shown some good performance, although Sauber were strong in Monza until their cars both stopped.

"Hopefully these next few tracks will suit us a little better, but we know it's going to be a fight all the way.

"We fought all the way for it last year and missed out by a point, so it would be rather harsh if that happened again."
