LA Auto Show 2011 Live: 2012 Honda CR-V

The Japanese went over the difficulties with suppliers and made the 2012 Honda CR-V world premiere debut at LA Auto Show 2011. The Honda model presents a very close look to the concept on which it is based.

Honda brought the new generation CR-V at the LA Auto Show. Honda fans feared that the model wouldn’t be at this auto show because of the problems with suppliers from Thailand, but the Japanese were able to solve these problems and said they will offer for sale the new Honda CR-V in the U.S. by the end of the year. Chances are that the waiting list for 2012 Honda CR-V to stretch over several months.

2012 Honda CR-V Design
The new Honda CR-V was prefigured by a concept close to production, the difference between the two models being insignificant. Basically, the series model hasn’t the aggressive wheels of the concept, certain body parts don’t have the glossy finish and front and rear lights have a different graphics.

The shapes and figure of the 2012 Honda CR-V remained unchanged from the concept to the series version. Compared with the old Honda CR-V, the new model has the same width and same wheelbase, but is shorter by 0.8 inches (2 cm) and shorter by 1 inch (2.5 cm).

In the interior, the new Honda CR-V presents a more premium appearance and has a set of attractive-looking dashboard gauges. The Americans will enjoy the integration of Pandora interface for internet radio, with a function of reading and writing SMS and through the i-MID system (Intelligent Multi-Information Display). i-MID is offered on 2012 Honda CR-V equipped with navigation system. The new generation Honda CR-V keeps the five-seat configuration, the 60/40 folding rear seat and enjoys a simplified folding system.

2012 Honda CR-V Engine
For the U.S. market, Honda CR-V is offered with the new i-VTEC 2.4-liter engine, four inline cylinders, that develops 185 HP and 220 Nm, coupled to a five-speed automatic transmission. The model was equipped with a new four-wheel drive system, called Real Time All-Wheel-Drive, with intelligent control system.

For now, no information about the European version of the 2012 Honda CR-V and the available engines.
