Unbeatable Ferrari takes ILMC title, Scuderia AF Corse take team title

Maranello, 13 November – Zhuhai circuit in China was the scene of the final round of the Intercontinental Le Mans Cup and Ferrari has taken the Constructors’ title in the GTE PRO class, while Scuderia AF Corse has been crowned as the winner of the team category. Gianmaria Bruni and Giancarlo Fisichella came home fifth at the end of the six hour race and that was enough for them to finish ahead of BMW Motorsport in the championship even though latter took first and second today. The Italian team thus repeats last year’s victory brining home the title to the Maranello marque, in a series that will be replaced next year by the new FIA World Endurance Championship.

“This victory is the perfect finale to a season where we were always competitive,” commented Giancarlo Fisichella, after crossing the finishing line. “Having dominated the Le Mans Series, we have now won the Intercontinental Le Mans Cup, a tough championship which saw us go head to head with strong competitors. We came to Zhuhai knowing our strengths, feeling confident that we could add to the list of titles on the Ferrari and Scuderia AF Corse palmares.

“A well thought out strategy adopted by the Amato Ferrari run team, perfect teamwork and my rapport with Gianmaria Bruni made for a very strong outfit.” Of the other five Ferraris in the race, Fred Makowiecki and Stephane Ortelli completed 218 laps to finish third in the Luxury Racing 458 Italia GT2, while in the GTE AM class, the acid green F430 GTC entered by Krohn Racing and crewed by Krohn-Jonsson-Rugolo came third.

Maranello, 13 novembre - Sul circuito cinese di Zhuhai, teatro dell'ultima gara dell'Intercontinental Le Mans Cup 2011, la Ferrari ha conquistato il titolo Costruttori in classe GTE PRO mentre la Scuderia AF Corse si è consacrata regina nella classifica riservata ai team. La quinta posizione ottenuta dall’equipaggio composto da Gianmaria Bruni e Giancarlo Fisichella, al termine di una prova durata sei ore, è stata sufficiente per allungare il proprio vantaggio sulla BMW Motorsport, nonostante quest’ultima fosse riuscita a piazzare entrambe le proprie vetture sul primo e sul secondo gradino del podio. La Scuderia italiana, replicando il successo della passata stagione, ha così consegnato alla Casa di Maranello il primato nella serie, ponendo il sigillo Ferrari in un campionato che l’anno prossimo sarà sostituito dal nuovo FIA World Endurance Championship.

“Questa vittoria è la perfetta conclusione di una stagione che ci ha visti protagonisti”- ha commentato Giancarlo Fisichella dopo aver tagliato il traguardo- “Dopo aver dominato nella Le Mans Series, arriva il successo nell’Intercontinetal Le Mans Cup, un campionato impegnativo dove abbiamo dovuto fronteggiare avversari preparati e competitivi. Siamo giunti a Zhuhai consapevoli delle nostre potenzialità e certi che avremmo saputo aggiungere un nuovo successo al palmares di Ferrari e della Scuderia AF Corse. L’attenta strategia del team di Amato Ferrari, il perfetto lavoro di squadra e la sintonia che mi lega a Gianmaria Bruni ci hanno reso una squadra fortissima”.

Delle altre cinque Ferrari in gara, ben 218 i giri completati da Fred Makowiecki e Stéphane Ortelli, terzi sulla 458 Italia GT2 del team Luxury Racing, mentre in classe GTE AM il terzo gradino del podio è andato alla F430 GTC verde acido di Krohn Racing grazie all’ottima prestazione di Krohn - Jönsson -Rugolo.
